100th post

Yay! This post is the 100th ever since I have started my blog 4 months ago. And for this post, I gonna reflect on what happened during Week 6 of this short trimester. Here it goes~~~

Woah! Time flies! This trimester is drawing its curtains soon with just 1 more week remaining. And I have 1 more assignment which due next Fri. Then get ready to face the final exam!

I'm gonna highlight what happens today 1st. Ms Chong let us check our marks for presentation last week. Wow.. there's some grps which score high marks. 2 grps get above 19 out of 20-- Samantha's & Hannah's. Some grps get above 18 (Isabelle's & our seniors among them) while the rest around 17. Where's our grp u wonder? Despite the extra work that my grps has done, we only obtain 17/20. I guess our presentation wasn't impressive enough that it pulls our marks down. Anyway, we did the best we could and satisfied with the outcome.

Ms Chong explains abt the exam format before she begin lecturing. She gives details of the type of questions that will be coming out in the final exam. Wow... better start doing revision ASAP. Well something happens during the lecture though. When she calls the names of students to answer the questions she asks us to do, a lot of them MIA (missing in action). They aren't there but there's signatures on the attendance list. Apparently some students help their frens to sign. Really frustrating.

Renjie turns 20 today and Eugene has bought a cake for her birthday celebration. The celebration takes place right after 1st Japanese lecture at the cafeteria btwn Block D & E.

Tada... Renjie's birthday cake

Renjie making a wish and cutting the cake at the same time

Me with the birthday girl who is my fellow coursemate.
Happy blessed birthday, Renjie! May today will be the best day in your life! Happy to know u and u're such a great friend and sister in Christ of mine. Hope u stay cheerful & lovely all the time. Take care & happy always, my dear friend! May the Lord bless u abundantly!

During this week, I got to know the bar list is out, so do the exam timetable. I'm eligible to sit for the 2 subjects I'm taking this trimester: Japanese (12 Dec) & MLE (15 Dec). And I heard that the elective subject (Japanese or Chinese) is not counted into the CGPA, which means MLE is the sole contributor to the GPA & CGPA this trimester. So I should get at least a B in MLE if I wanna make improvement.

On Tues, CF meeting took place but the meeting all gao dim by the members this time. I can confess it was indeed a great nite. Everyone has put in all their efforts to make this event.a success. The members have even planned a surprise joint birthday celebration for Shirley & Renjie. The committee members really appreciated what their fellow brothers & sisters have done for the nite.

That's all I wanna say. Catch ya next time!

Birthdays, birthdays, birthdays...

Everyday around the world, birthday celebrations take place. And nother birthday celebration takes place in Kampar just now. Jack has just turned 1 yr older recently.

For this week's service, the two 'pillars' of Campus Connect, PC & KL, are away on a mission. Pei Lee leads the worship with MJ as back-up singer, Eugene as guitarist, Aaron Chieng playing the bass, Daniel on keyboard and Robert the drummer. Then after announcements by Bro Peter, Bro Kelvin Chew talks abt missions.

Later after service, 18 of us go Haji Gany (at the corner of shoplots beside GKH, just opposite Golden Label Bistro) yum cha. Then we celebrate Jack's birthday there. A chocolate cake is bought from JusToEat and this is the 3rd cake I see this week. Another two cakes were bought from the same place to celebrate Shirley Kwong & Tan Renjie's birthday during CF meeting this week.

Jack's birthday cake

And this is the birthday boy, Jack Choong, brother to Koon Eu. Happy belated birthday, Jack! Have a nice day & God bless!
(The photo was taken during CGBC The Amazing Race camp 2009 2 months ago)

I have seen 3 cakes too 3 weeks ago: 2 for Eugene Goh & another for Fiona Wong. I wonder if I will see a 4th one this Sat cos Renjie's actual birthday is on 28 Nov.

A job well done!

24th Nov 2009
Well done everyone who have put in all their efforts in this week's CF meeting! It was indeed an awesome night! The plans was carried out smoothly. Bravo!

This week, CF members is in-charge of everything, from worship to bible study. Last week all the members sat down and discuss who gonna take charge in which areas. So Ngee Derk is the worship leader for this meeting. Back-up singers include Wendy Loo, Wendy Lee and me while Shuyi is handling the LCD. Jason, Aaron Asir (both guitar) and Melissa Joy (keyboard) serve as musicians.

Ah Derk starts the worship session with Give Us Clean Hands. Then after prayer, it's dancing time cos the next song is This Is How We Overcome. I step forward to teach members of the floor the dance movement to the song before we continue with the worship session. It is fun leading them to dance to such a wonderful song that I love.

Then two more songs follow after this: Along the Road and What A Friend We Have In Jesus. Before the stage is handed over to Gale, chairperson for this meeting, I ask my fellow members, "Do u all enjoy dancing to the song just now?" I receive a resounding Yes! from them. All praises be unto the Lord!

Then our plans begin. First Gale announces there's a voting session to vote for the person we liked the most and the person we wanna kacau the most among the committee. The committee are asked to leave the room 4 abt 5-10 minutes. Actually we're not voting for anyone, just to write down our birthday wishes to Shirley (whose birthday is today) & Renjie (a few days later) on 2 small pieces of paper. When we're done, we have to put our 'ballots' into a special box that some members have made before the meeting begins. But Gale says that we have to do this without the knowledge of the committee. We're told to place our 'ballots' into the 'ballot box' before the meeting's over. Later the committee members re-enter the room and several announcements are being made before we split into our respective CGs.

As I mention earlier, the Bible study session is conducted by members. I dunno who's leading the Bible study in other grps. But for my grp, Fiona is the one. We spend abt 30 minutes before returning to our meeting room. Haha... we carry on with our well-crafted plans. What's happening next?

After everyone has settled down, the committee is sent out of the room again. This time Gale asks if anyone hasn't 'voted' yet. Then the committee is allowed to step into the room again. But they are being called to the front this time. Why? Time to announce the 'results'. First, time to reveal who's the committee member we favour the most. And the award goes to....... *drums roll*

Shirley the Lioness!!

But then who is the one whom we wanna kacau the most? Ok, here's the outcome.....jeng jeng jeng. Pls welcome the winner..... Tan Renjie a.ka. Goldfish!! Well what has she done wrong that everyone wanna kacau her? She has no idea; neither does the rest of the committee. Little do they know that it's actually part of our perfect plans for the nite. Mr & Mrs K are invited to give out the prizes to Shirley & Renjie respectively. Then both of them are asked to do a catwalk and they did. Then punishment time.

The winners of the night: Shirley (left) and Renjie

What kind of punishments would they abt to receive? Gale says, "Bring out the punishment." But it turns out to be a surprise birthday celebration for both girls. Relax, Renjie, u've done nothing wrong. We're just celebrating your birthday earlier. Two cakes are brought in by Fiona and Clara. Then we all sing the Happy Birthday song to them. Shirley's birthday falls on today while Renjie's on the 28th. In last week's discussion, I suggested that since Renjie's birthday is close to Shirley's, we can combine the birthday celebration. Actually Koon Eu shares the same birthday as the CF vice-president but he leaves before the celebration takes place.

Shirley (2nd left) and Renjie (2nd right) with their birthday cakes. With them are Fiona (left) and Clara.

The birthday cakes

This is Shirley's.

And this is Renjie's.

Then, who's speaking next? None other than Eric Ong. He praises everyone who contributed in gracing this meeting. He mentions one of the announcement made by Gale earlier, the one abt pot luck which will be held next week. Each CG is supposed to make one dish and every member should buy a present which costs btwn RM5-10 for exchange next week. He also encourages us to bring friends to the Potty Potty Lucky Thingy (the name sounds weird right?). Gale mentions something abt prayer request for the upcoming final exam beforehand. Then Eric closes the meeting with a word of prayer and dismisses everyone. Some ppl go home while some stay back for a while.

Me with the birthday girls.Happy blessed birthday, Shirley! And happy blessed birthday in advance to Renjie! Glad to have the opportunity to meet u both! May God bless u both abundantly!

A brief photo-taking session takes place. Then Shirley unwrap her present. Can u guess what is it?

Tada... a cute lion tissue box cover. It suits her.

Shirley (on different types of headgear) and me

Not wearing anything (this is before the meeting starts)

With the crown (after the prize-giving ceremony)

With the tissue box cover (after the meeting over)

The committee members then gather for a short meeting. Then abt 20 of us go Ghany yum cha. We had fun chit-chatting with one another. At one point, Isabelle slaps Nicholas' thigh very hard until a red palmprint appears. And for unknown reasons, tears of joy flow from Melissa's eyes. I meet some of my seniors (Beverly, Crystaline & Atiqah) there. Then I return home at around 1.15am.

Exam timetable out

Yes! I check the Intranet just now and find that the schedule for the final exam is out. And I have exam on 12 (Intro to Japanese) and 15 Sept (MLE). That means I can go back to my hometown to celebrate Christmas with my family & friends. Yay! But I may have other plans. And I've done the verification exercise for the subjects I'm gonna sit in the upcoming final exam.

Oh, I would like to express birthday greetings to fellow Utarians Amber Lee (my EL junior), Shirley Kwong a.k.a the Lioness (CF vice-president) and Koon Eu. Hope today will be a great day for u all. May u all have a bright future ahead. May God bless u all abundantly! Take care & happy always!

The Fourth Apprentice

Another Warriors book on sale today. It's the 1st book of Omen of the Stars series entitled The Fourth Apprentice. The story continues from Power of Three: Sunrise where readers are curious to find out what happens to Leafpool and Hollyleaf.

Leafpool was the current ThunderClan medicine cat while Hollyleaf was a warrior. And both of them were related by blood cos Leafpool was the mother to Hollyleaf, Lionblaze and Jayfeather, the apprentice medicine cat. Leafpool's postition as the medicine cat was hanging on the rope as medicine cats weren't allowed to have mates or kits. To add salt to the wound, she mated with Crowfeather of WindClan who said she and the kits have nothing to do with him. She definitely had to step down but will she train as warrior instead?

As for Hollyleaf, she was revealed to be murderer of Ashfur, who planned to tell the secret that the 3 kits weren't belong to Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight. And shockingly, she herself blurted out the true identity of her parents at the Gathering. Later she even forced her mother to eat deathberries but Leafpool didn't do so. Hollyleaf was believed to be suffocated to death after the tunnel she ran into collapsed. Was she still alive or was she dead?

The final cat of the Power of Three prophecy was Dovekit/paw, daughter of Birchfall and Whitewing, since Hollyleaf didn't possess any powers at all. Jayfeather can walk into other cats' dreams while Lionblaze can fight without getting hurt. What's Dovepaw's power gonna be? And Ivykit/paw was envious with the power her sister has.

All the questions mentioned above will be answered in the new Warriors book. So Warriors fans worldwide, prepare to raid the bookstores starting form today!

Bar List Out....

And I'm not barred from exam!! Yay!!
Just heard from my classmates that bar list is out. Not surprising cos it's oredi Week 6. And all except Monica are not barred. I checked the bar list after the Japanese replacement tutorial and it's true! My name isn't there! However, there r 3 EL students barred from sitting for the final exam on 3 different subjects: Monica (Intro to Chinese) & another 2 Y1S2 juniors (Academic Writing & Sun Zi's Arts of Wars 孙子兵法).

I'd like to wish happy birthday to 3 of my friends: Anna Leong (fellow CF member), Tuen (secondary school friend) & Voon Fee (whom I know during 6th Form, now pursuing her studies in USA). Glad to have the chance to know u 3. Hope today will be a great day for the 3 of u! May God light your path in whatever u do & wherever u be.

Presentation done (End of Week 5)

I've done my last (and only) presentation of this whole trimester just now!! Very happy and relieved!! But things ain't over yet cos I have 1 more literature assignment to work on.

Let me tell what happened a day before the presentation first. My fellow grps members were asked to gather at Grace's house 1448 around 5pm y'day. Apparently our scrapbook hasn't been completed. So there's still lots of things to do. Betty has came up with a story to do our presentation and she drew lots of pictures for the story. Some pictures still need to be painted. And the script of the story was cut into pieces to fit in the part where it supposed to be. Wow....all 7 of us started work around 5pm, only to complete the assignment around 2am this morning. Distrubution was made earlier on who presenting on which part and we had rehearsals few times to get ourselves familiarised with the vocabs.

My hardworking grpmates: (clockwise from left) Betty, Joey, Ivy and Eugene. The V-sign is from Grace, another grpmate

After returning from Grace's house, I didn't sleep at all until 7am cos maybe little excited cos this is my last presentation. Around 7.30am, I head to school.

Then, Ms Chong requests each grp send a rep to draw lots to decide the order. There's a ttl of 17 grps and my grp is 5th. All the grps have done great work for this assignment. But in my opinion, some grps have done extra work than the others. One of the grps is my grp which has presented the assignment in a story entitled "Taro & E.T.". Another grp is Renjie's grp who has drawn out the things they want to present. Shu Ern's & Sam's grp do the presentation in the scenarios of restaurants. I can say all the 4 EL grps share one topic in common: Food (tabemono). There's other grps which have included vocabs on food as well. FOOD FRENZY!!

As for other grps, they have done their best in completing the assignment. There's one or two grps which entertains the students with more pictures. Isabelle's grp is one cos she's the one who did the slides as she loves and enjoys preparing them. Oh ya, she'll be doing the slides for next week CF praise & worship..

Wow... with this assignment done plus one more assignment handed in the previous day, now I have just one more MLE assignment to go. Weee!! Should start the discussion ASAP probably next week.

As for the rest of week,
Monday, Doulos ship crew came visit Campus Connect and shared abt their experience. On Tues, team buliding workiship run by Renjie during CF. Next week, CF members take charge of everything.... worship, transport, bible study.... and I'm in the worship team this time. Also lots of 1st time happen to me this week. International Friendship Society is organising an event during the Chirstmas festive season and I am chosen as the secretary for this event. Wow.... heavy responsibilities on my shoulders but there's other committtee members to lend me their support. I can guess the reason why they choose me to be the secretary: I'm an EL student so they must be thinking my command of English is very good. Maybe but I will put in my efforts and do the best I can.

1st times

Lots of 1st times happen to me within this week:
  • 1st time slot in balls while playing snooker with friends
  • 1st time drawing first blood while playing Dota
  • 1st time being in the worship team in CF
  • 1st time become the secretary of an event (organised by IFS)
  • 1st time didn't do 2 presentations in a row b'cos not feeling well on both occasions
  • And sprained my ankle and have to wear an ankle guard for the 1st time

There will be lots more of 1st times as life goes on.

Team Building

CF on again after break last week... this time team building session managed by Tan Renjie.

Melissa leads worship this time with Renjie on keyboard and Wai Wai as guitarist. Before that, ice-breaking session by Calvin. All members divided into 4 groups. We are required to place certain number of hands, feet and even head on the floor. When we're done, we shout we're ready and the bandanna guy come check if we're correct.

Kyle explains abt praise & worship while Shu briefs us abt bible study. Shu says if members encounter any words they dunno while doing bible study, they can look the words up the dictionary OR..... ask any of the EL students... lol!

Renjie steps in to explain abt team building, then she asks us to go into the groups we're in while playing the ice-breaker. All 4 teams sit in rows and are handed pieces of paper and pencil or pen. A picture is shown to the leader of each team (who's sitting at the front of the line). Then he/she has to tell the next person what's on the picture and that person has to draw it out. But while doing that the backs of the 2 persons face each other. The step goes on and on till d end of the line. Then the papers are collected by the invigilating committee. We're being shown the original picture. Wow.... it's far more than wat I've drawn.. but I could only draw what the previous guy tells me. The committee then selects the cacatest picture from each group n shows it to everyone. Glad that mine isn't chosen. Hee!!

Then discussion time. Next week it's little special cos this time the CF members will handle everything. Worship, bible study, transport. Committee members just sit back n relax. They leave the room to let us members to discuss abt who gonna in charge. Everything settled among urselves. We even plan something special for next week's meeting. While we're doing this, the committee are praying for us outside the room. Then after finished praying, they try to barge in but Jerome, who sits by the closed door, manages to hold 'em off until discussion over. So committee, be prepared for what's in store for u all ya. And thanks for your prayers!

Then abt 15 of us go Ghany yum cha. We have lots of fun talking & joking with one another. Then we dismiss around 1am.

Doulos ship crew visit Campus Connect

Yup! U heard it right. A few girls who work on the ship comes pay us a visit just now during our regular cell group. The ship Doulos now stop at the dock in Singapore and the girls are sent north to do some ministry work.

We're fortunate to have Sarah (Australia), Emily (Canada), Chae Hyung-lim (S Korea), Yuki (Germany) and Joy (USA) here to share their experience and area of work. All of them work in different departments on the ship. They do a short performance abt the ministry they represent. They also share how they know abt Doulos and how they get to work there. Among the 5, Hyung-lim said she's the oldest and she's worked on the ship for more than 1 yr while the other 4 girls just been on the ship for abt 2 months.

We break into our cell groups and the 5 girls are distributed into the 3 groups. Hyung-lim's in Pei Lee's grp, Yuki & Sarah in KL's and Emily & Joy in PC's grp. Hyung-lim shares more abt her work & experience to us. She also mentions that there's Malaysians working on the ship too. Wow!! Then Pei Lee continue a little on the discipleship training, then we close in prayer. Later, we ask questions more abt the ship and Hyung-lim manages to impress us with her responses.

The girls are leaving for Ipoh now and will be back on the ship on Friday. Hope they have a safe journey back! Thank them for having fellowship with us. Bon voyage, girls!!

Snooker + Dota

Yesterday after dinner with my fellow Christian friends (the usual ones like Calvin, Clara, Isabelle, Eric, Shu Ern, Kyle etc), some of us went to play snooker while some went to A Station. It was quite fun playing snooker. It's only my 2nd time playing. Managed to slot in one or two balls.

Then we went A Station to play some games. Eric & Syanon joining the 5 of us (Kelvin Wong, Calvin, Shu, Kyle & me) who played snooker just now. The 7 of us played Dota. I'm not so good in playing this game. We played two games: 4 vs 3. During the 1st game, I shocked the rest by drawing first blood (the 1st to kill someone of opposing team). But then I suffered the most death during that game.

In the 2nd, I didn't manage to get any kills cos Syanon asked me to stay on top half of the map and not to cross the river. But the character I got this time, Juggernaut, was quite nice. I liked his Blade Fury skills. While I died the most in the last game, Calvin was the victim this time. The opponents was chasing after DeadMeat (his nickname of the game) and finished him off a few times.

It was pretty fun having fellowship with other believers. And this week I was supposed to do Week 4 of the MasterLife training--Fellowship with Believers, but until now I've only done until Day 2. Will finish the rest ASAP.

End of Week 4

Wow.... another week wheezed past just like that. Just 3 more weeks to go. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Just now, I sit for my Japanese midterm exam. Wow... I'm getting myself familiar with the Hiragana & Katakana characters now, though I can rmb the Hira-characters much better than Kata-characters. Overall I can say the test is kinda easy. I'm satisfied with my performance this time compared to the previous 2 quizzes.

Speaking abt the 2 quizzes, I got back Quiz 2 on Wed. I fared badly, only scored 2 out of 15 marks. I got 2 correct, 3 with 1 wrong character, the rest I just got a few characters correct. Then Quiz 1 on the same day. Test on Hira-Kata characters. Oh boy, I left some of the blanks unfilled but at least half of the 90 available spaces were filled. And the sad thing is that I rmbed some of the characters which I didn't manage to fill in after I've handed in my test paper. Sigh!!

This week, there's some problems arise with our Japanese tutorial classes At first we EL students were informed that the 2 tutorials were on the same day (Wed 9am-12pm). Then the situation changes again that we have to follow the original timetable. So we missed 1 tutorial this week. Earlier in Week 2, we missed another 2 tutorials b'cos of disorganised schedule. Hence our pace were slower than other students (JR, PR, CE) who were also taking the subject this trimester by 3 tutorials.

But this problem is solved when Eugene makes the announcement that our replacement classes is to be held from 12.30-2.00pm on Mon for the next 3 weeks. Yippie!! Whenever there's a problem, always look to the bright side.

Now that midterm over, I need to work on my assignments which 2 of them due next week n another due Week 7. Also I'm having my 2nd and last (or should I say the only one cos I was not feeling good when I was supposed to present last week) MLE presentation next Tues. Got lots of work to do. Catch ya'll next time!!

A stroll in the park

Fuh.. went for a jog around the WestLake park at around 5.15 am. Nice environment there!!
Actually this is my 1st time going there ever since I came to Kampar for my studies. As I take my stroll in the park, at first I smelled something stinky. The foul smell actually comes from the water on the side of the bridge nearer to the park. Ewwww!! But I keep on going. After getting tired of jogging, I walk around there and enjoy the beauty of the scenery. I return home at around 5.45pm. With the jog, the Joggers lead Mother Nature 4-1.
Actually this trimester, the CF plan to have a jogging session. So those interested can sign up and will be contacted whenever there's jogging session. But so far, the points were contributed by a few individual only. Mr Kuek & Mdm Cheng equalised after Mother Nature got ahead by spoiling the 1st jogging session with heavy rain. Then Jensen jogged solo to give the joggers the lead. I extend the lead by jogging for 2 days in a row (y'day & just now). Go Joggers Go!!

Problematic Japanese schedule

What's going wrong with the Japanese classes esp the tutorials? Our timetable has changes a few times within these few weeks.

First, on our timetable, there's 3 Japanese lectures on Sat itself. But the subject is 3 credit hours, which means we supposed to have 2 lectures. So Mr Rajan has to cancel the 5-7pm class after discussion with Mr Krishnan. That was on the 1st week.

Mr Rajan also said that our tutorial classes to be carried out on Saturdays from Week 2 onwards. That means we EL students who's taking Japanese have 2 days of classes compared to those taking Chinese.I was like rejoiced when I heard that.

But it was a short-lived joy. Within that week itself, we're told to use back the old timetable again. Oh no! We didn't attend any tutorial classes at all cos the classes were cancelled. So gotta find replacement for those classes.

Llast week, Eugene asked for opinion from everyone whether to have 2 tutorial classes on the same day. Majority agreed. So decision was made and this week onwards, we only need to come 9am-12pm on Wed. As for the replacement, it's gonna be next Mon, same time.

Then just now, he announced that we're following our original timetable again. Oh boy, this is terrible and frustrating. He said it's a bit troublesome to find a new time slot and venue for our tutorials as he explains, there's a series of complicated procedures to follow and it takes time to process. Another problem is that our seniors is having their MLE tutorials every Wed, so it's hard for everyone to adjust to certain time slots. In the end we have no choice but to follow our original timetable.

Why is there so much problems? They're like never ending. But I agree with what Rick Warren (who's written the book Purpose Driven Life 标杆人生) says abt problems in life. Life is a series of problems: either you are in one now, you're just coming out of one or you're getting ready to go into another one. But I hope this is the end to this problem regarding this matter.

Exempted

Yay!! I got exemption for Bahasa Kebangsaan(A)!!
Just now I go to FAS FGO to enquire abt my unit exemption application for Bahasa Kebangsaan(A). I've submitted my application before this trimester. One of the staff in the office told me to check online for my exemption status. I proceed to check thru Intranet & my application is successful. Woohoo!!
In the Intranet, it says there's a letter of notification abt it but just now the officer told me there's no letter for this. Maybe I'll ask again later.
I feel relieved now that I have only 2 subjects this trimester: MLE n Japanese.

Blessing in disguise (End of Week 3)

A blessing in disguise indeed for me this week!!! Hee... just 4 more week to go... time flies!!

Woah... lots of things happened this week.. On Tues night during CF, there's this Leadership Workshop run by Bro Michael Williams from FES. It was a great nite throughout the nite. Steven's van hit the drain b4 meeting start, then Fiona's birthday celebration after the meeting. Then we CF members ramai-ramai go Ghany yum cha.

Beside CF, I didn't do my presentation on Tues cos not feeling well... fared badly in Wed's Japanese quiz... I didn't memorise and familiarise with the Hiragana & Katakana characters, now as I learn, I can rmb much better.

Another thing is that I almost cannot find a group for the Japanese assignment. Haiz.. if I can't find one, I'll be losing 20 marks just like that. Y'day managed to persuade to join Chia Huey's grp after being rejected by few other grps.

As for today, Ms Chong mentions abt the assignment b4 she begin teaching. She highlights the things to be included in d assignment. She also says 8 ppl in a grp for d assignment, so I feel relieved. Fuh.... but there's midterm test next Sat. Oh my... 1 week to prepare for the exam. Ms Chong explains abt the types of Qs in the exam. Wow... midterm next week, assignment due the week after.

Ms Chong needs the students to write down the grp members for d assignment. Number of members in a grp: either 7, 8 or 9. Originally I am with Chia Huey's but the grp has combined with Samantha's, so I have to join another one which is Yin Mun's grp (I am with Ivy, Joey, Mei Yun & Yin Mun for the MLE 1st assignment).

The distribution of EL students for this assignment are as follow:
Y2S3 (our seniors - Arthur, Joyce, Jia Wei, Jolyn, Ponneey, Shu Ern, Beverly & Koon Leng) in one grp
Y2S2 - 3 grps with 7 in one grp, 8 in another grp & remaining 9 in one more grp
Grp 1 (7 ppl) - Betty, Ivy, Joey, Mei Yun, Yin Mun, Eugene & me
Grp 2 (8 ppl) - Hannah, Helena, Shao-Chin, Yi Ling, Seoh Chen, Renjie and twins Ann & Jan
Grp 3 (9 ppl) - Winna, Samantha, JL, Steffy, Pui Chee, Pei Ching, Chia Huey, Kim Yun & Bee Ling

After that, Ms Chong carries on with her lectures. Wow... learn a lot of new vocab today... places, numbers, days in a week, time etc.

Also during the break btwn the 2 lectures, I discuss the MLE assignment with my grp & we distribute work among ourselves. Due date for this assignment on Fri of Week 5.

Lots of work to do... 2 assignments to complete within 2 weeks, midterm test next week... whoa, time to get busy... should start work ASAP & spend lesser time surfing the net... later go jogging around 5pm with few friends, then maybe going for the Super Saturday Concert at night.

Oh ya, next week onwards, I have only 3 days of classes - Tues, Wed & Sat. Both the Japanese tutorials are on Wed morning from 9am-12pm. Now it's all equal now for those who are taking Chinese & Japanese in the number of days of classes. Woohoo!!

I will enter His gates with thanksgiving

I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart
I will enter His courts with praise
I will say this is the day that the Lord has made
I will rejoice for He has made me glad

Chorus
He has made me glad
He has made me glad
I will rejoice for He has made me glad
(repeat)

Thankful & grateful

I'm thankful for what the Lord has done in my life!! Sumtimes, I don't really know what I'm doin', esp during this trimester. But, I'm grateful to Him as I'm currently doing the discipleship training.

Speaking abt what happened recently, I didn't do well in the Japanese quiz, almost lost 20 marks cos haven't found a grp 4 Japanese assignment & didn't get to do presentation few days ago (though the presentation doesn't carry any marks la).

Frankly, my sleeping hours vary from day to day. Sumtimes, I slept too little and sumtimes I slept too much until the point that I only wake up in the afternoon (for those days I don't have classes). The main cause to this problem is that I spent too much time on the Internet. Not doing research, just doing online stuff like Facebooking and visiting Warriors forums. I dunno why I'm little too active on the forums these days. I tend to have this problem: whenever I'm onlining, I spend hours on it. SELF CONTROL!! I need SELF CONTROL!!

I feel guilty abt the way I act recently, though I've been doing the Disciple's Cross book regularly. I did badly in the J-quiz b'cos I cannot rmb all the Hiragana & Katakana characters well. On Tues, I was supposed to do presentation on pgs 135-57 of Lee Kok Liang's Flowers in the Sky alone as my partner Monica was down with high fever. But in the end, I surrendered the chance even though I was prepared. I was not feeling well too, probably due to lack of sleep the previous nite. Haiz, blame myself for what I've done.

Another thing I wanna talk abt is the J-assignment. We're supposed to form grps of 4 or 5 and make a learning materials for basic learners. At first, I thought of joining the seniors for the project, but they decide to work within themselves. I've waited for reply from Shu Ern's grp previously as I see this is the only chance of working with them as we will not be studying together anymore after this. After they rejected me, I tried to find other grps to join as I dun wanna lose 20 marks for not involving in the assignment. But all the grps were full & had started doing the project. There are 3 grps of 5s & 2 grps of 4s. I tried asking both the grps of 4 but they say they've started work & it's hard for them to take in members. I understand that.. so I ask the grp which I am originally assigned to, whether I can join them. And they agreed. Thank God for giving me a lifeline.

As I'm doing the discipleship training today, today's topic's is on Enter His Gates with Thanksgiving (Week 3, Day 2). I really wanna thank the Lord for all He has done in my life. Though sumtimes I may act the way I shouldn't be, I appreciate God for His forgiveness. Therefore, I should learn to love and get to know Him more. So I would like to dedicate this song I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart unto the Lord, for He has made me glad. As the topic after this is Enter His Courts with Praise (Week 3, Day 3), I will give thanks and praises unto Him.

CF Leadership Workshop

Y'day night, there's this Leadership Workshop during CF meeting. Bro Michael from FES (dun misunderstood, it's not the FES of Utar but another organisation) was invited to give to run this workshop. The workshop began after worship session led by Jensen (with Carlie as back-up singer, Daniel guitarist & Edmund on the drums). Bro Michael first divided all the members into 4 grps, with 15 members each in one grp. First task he asked us to do is think of a way to touch the ceiling of the ground floor while holding hands together (the chain mustn't break though). Each grp had to think of a song & emotion and do them while completing the task. All 4 grps thought of strategies of how to do the task. My grp was the 1st to leave & return to the room. Then later, everyone participated in some discussion.. explaining how they get the job done, importance of leadership etc.
There's something happen b4 & after the meeting. While welcoming guests to the event (Isabelle & I were the ushers), suddenly the van drove by Steven went into the drain beside the church (only the right front wheel). All the guys helped to push the van while the girls just watched. In the end, the van managed to get out of the drain. Praise the Lord!! Later, Steven was invited to share his testimony of the incident. Glad that we all helped out!!
Actually, someone's birthday y'day. Fiona's turning 18!! We helped her celebrate her birthday. Wow.. it's a chocolate cake and it's the 3rd cake I see this week. Two days ago, Eugene's birthday.. my coursemates bought a blueberry cheese cake to celebrate b4 the Japanese tutorial & later after CC cell, another cake waiting for Eugene.. carrot cake.. mmmm... all the 3 cakes taste good & yummy!!
After CF ended, some members went Ghany yum cha... those who went back by Wesley Church van earlier came to join us as well (Calvin, Clara, Felicia, Ah Derk, Jeung Yuan aming them)... even Mr K was there too... 20+ ppl seated in 6 tables altogether.. we left the place around 1am
Japanese quiz later... oh crap, I haven't memorise all the Hiragana & Katakana characters yet... but will do my best later... Ok, that's all... back to work!!

Double birthday celebration for Eugene

Our big boss had 2 birthday celebration today.. one with fellow coursemates in Utar before Japanese tutorial, another one just now after CGBC regular cell group.

1st celebration
Received message thru Facebook from Steffy, asking all of us to be there at 5.30pm. When I reached there, few coursemates were there already. The tutor, Mr Chong, were also there. We waited for the birthday boy to come. At last, Eugene arrived. We asked Mr Chong whether we can do the celebration. He gave the green light, so the cake was brought out.
It was a blueberry cheese cake. And the candles were lit. After singing the birthday song, Eugene blew the candles.... but the flame came alive again. He blew and blew and blew, but still can't blow 'em off. Then he had to blow harder, then only the candles were put off. The cake was cut and everyone had their share b4 Mr Chong continued with the tutorial session.

2nd celebration
Cell grp took place as usual with Isaac & MJ in-charge of ice-breakar & worship sessions respectively. Then all members were separated into their own grps for discussion of discipleship trainings. Our grp occupied the first floor this time. Hee... and all 3 grps ended with prayers for one another. Later another celebration for Eugene. This time, the cake was a carrot cake (shown in the picture below). The candles were easily blown off, unlike the previous ones. Everyone had their share and Eugene loved the cake, saying he hasn't taste the cake for a long time.

Happy blessed birthday, Eugene!! As u move into another phase of your life, may God bless u in your daily walk with Him. Take care & happy always!!

Valuable lesson

I've learnt another valuable lesson!!
Just now, I heard that 3 Utar students being swept away at the Batu Berangkai waterfalls in Kampar. Now all three 3 were found drowned. Picture above shows the 3 unfortunate victims of the incident: (from left) James Khor Wan Kai, 20, from Penang; Yew Shy Gin (Kelly), 21, a Chinese Studies student from Sg Petani and Yew Ghim Chnieh, 20, also from Penang. Another friends of theirs, 22, who is in Accounting 2nd yr, managed to escape the scene with minor injuries and reported the incident to Kampar district police station.
It was raining heavily y'day but the 4 of them went to waterfall despite the rain. And their stubbornness cost them their lives. May this incidnts brings a lesson to all of us that we would rmb well in our life.
My dad has often advises me not to go to waterfalls esp during rainy season cos it's dangerous!! Now I see he's right after all.. after this unfortunate incident happened to 3 fellow Utarians of mine (though I don't know them). Thanks dad for reminding me!!
As for James, Kelly & Ghim Chineh, may u all rest in peace!!
