I don't understand....

Why? Why? Why?

Why the ICTC staff is so lazy? They don't even wanna come to help students/lecturers who experience problems with the LCD projectors despited being requested to do so. This afternoon, I have class in Block A as Block B (where most of my classes are in that block) is used as venues for final exams of the foundation students. The laptop and LCD projector are brought in for Mr Soh to conduct his lesson. At first, there's some problem with the projector. Everything's being set up but the projector couldn't detect anything. So Winna decided to go to the ICTC to ask for help from the staff there. But she returned to the FAS meeting room, alone, saying the staff refused to come. WTH!! Hello!! We're just one block away from where the department is located yet they don't want to take the trouble to even come and have a look. C'mon lah!! We're not in Block G or H or even I that u need to walk quite some distance to reach us. FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, WE'RE IN BLOCK A. Why the staff refuse to lend a helping hand?

I understand that any vehicles which enter into the campus compound require vehicle stickers, if not the security guards will stop the particular car or motorcycle from entering the university. But the latest rumour that I heard is that even bicycles need to have those stickers. Not sure whether it's true or not but this is another thing I don't understand. Why we need to have stickers on our bicycles? Is it probably that the number of bicycles around the campus are too much that the management need to control the amount? And bicycles found in inappropriate parking locations will be chained up. At first when I'm riding my scooter into the campus for the previous trimesters, I wonder why there's invasion of parking spaces by bicycles at the parking areas for motorcycles (in front of Block C). Now I realise that students do not want to walk too far away from their venues of class. Bicycles definitely outnumber the rest of vehicles greatly and the sad thing is that there isn't sufficient parking spaces available. Last time, bicycles are seen parked along the bicycle lane inside the campus but now this is not allowed anymore. And the parking area near Block D (not the one directly in front of the block) which is the supposed parking areas for bicycles is very soggy and muddy.

I just don't understand why there's so many unsatisfactory things happen within the campus. Sigh!

Problematic Japanese schedule

What's going wrong with the Japanese classes esp the tutorials? Our timetable has changes a few times within these few weeks.

First, on our timetable, there's 3 Japanese lectures on Sat itself. But the subject is 3 credit hours, which means we supposed to have 2 lectures. So Mr Rajan has to cancel the 5-7pm class after discussion with Mr Krishnan. That was on the 1st week.

Mr Rajan also said that our tutorial classes to be carried out on Saturdays from Week 2 onwards. That means we EL students who's taking Japanese have 2 days of classes compared to those taking Chinese.I was like rejoiced when I heard that.

But it was a short-lived joy. Within that week itself, we're told to use back the old timetable again. Oh no! We didn't attend any tutorial classes at all cos the classes were cancelled. So gotta find replacement for those classes.

Llast week, Eugene asked for opinion from everyone whether to have 2 tutorial classes on the same day. Majority agreed. So decision was made and this week onwards, we only need to come 9am-12pm on Wed. As for the replacement, it's gonna be next Mon, same time.

Then just now, he announced that we're following our original timetable again. Oh boy, this is terrible and frustrating. He said it's a bit troublesome to find a new time slot and venue for our tutorials as he explains, there's a series of complicated procedures to follow and it takes time to process. Another problem is that our seniors is having their MLE tutorials every Wed, so it's hard for everyone to adjust to certain time slots. In the end we have no choice but to follow our original timetable.

Why is there so much problems? They're like never ending. But I agree with what Rick Warren (who's written the book Purpose Driven Life 标杆人生) says abt problems in life. Life is a series of problems: either you are in one now, you're just coming out of one or you're getting ready to go into another one. But I hope this is the end to this problem regarding this matter.

Thankful & grateful

I'm thankful for what the Lord has done in my life!! Sumtimes, I don't really know what I'm doin', esp during this trimester. But, I'm grateful to Him as I'm currently doing the discipleship training.

Speaking abt what happened recently, I didn't do well in the Japanese quiz, almost lost 20 marks cos haven't found a grp 4 Japanese assignment & didn't get to do presentation few days ago (though the presentation doesn't carry any marks la).

Frankly, my sleeping hours vary from day to day. Sumtimes, I slept too little and sumtimes I slept too much until the point that I only wake up in the afternoon (for those days I don't have classes). The main cause to this problem is that I spent too much time on the Internet. Not doing research, just doing online stuff like Facebooking and visiting Warriors forums. I dunno why I'm little too active on the forums these days. I tend to have this problem: whenever I'm onlining, I spend hours on it. SELF CONTROL!! I need SELF CONTROL!!

I feel guilty abt the way I act recently, though I've been doing the Disciple's Cross book regularly. I did badly in the J-quiz b'cos I cannot rmb all the Hiragana & Katakana characters well. On Tues, I was supposed to do presentation on pgs 135-57 of Lee Kok Liang's Flowers in the Sky alone as my partner Monica was down with high fever. But in the end, I surrendered the chance even though I was prepared. I was not feeling well too, probably due to lack of sleep the previous nite. Haiz, blame myself for what I've done.

Another thing I wanna talk abt is the J-assignment. We're supposed to form grps of 4 or 5 and make a learning materials for basic learners. At first, I thought of joining the seniors for the project, but they decide to work within themselves. I've waited for reply from Shu Ern's grp previously as I see this is the only chance of working with them as we will not be studying together anymore after this. After they rejected me, I tried to find other grps to join as I dun wanna lose 20 marks for not involving in the assignment. But all the grps were full & had started doing the project. There are 3 grps of 5s & 2 grps of 4s. I tried asking both the grps of 4 but they say they've started work & it's hard for them to take in members. I understand that.. so I ask the grp which I am originally assigned to, whether I can join them. And they agreed. Thank God for giving me a lifeline.

As I'm doing the discipleship training today, today's topic's is on Enter His Gates with Thanksgiving (Week 3, Day 2). I really wanna thank the Lord for all He has done in my life. Though sumtimes I may act the way I shouldn't be, I appreciate God for His forgiveness. Therefore, I should learn to love and get to know Him more. So I would like to dedicate this song I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart unto the Lord, for He has made me glad. As the topic after this is Enter His Courts with Praise (Week 3, Day 3), I will give thanks and praises unto Him.

Utar memang PHAIL!!!

I dunno wats wrong with Utar management.. give students lousy timetables!!
From the time I started studying here, the timetable was quite okay. But as time goes on, I find the timetables were not properly organised, getting worse one trimester after another. Sum students have classes until 8pm.. sum days have only one class.. sumtimes students have to be in the university for the whole day.. wide gaps in btwn classes. Exam timetable also not organised either, last trimester I have 5 papers in 8 days. Though I can go home earlier but the hectic schedule limits study time of me & my fellow coursemates. I heard from sum frens that they have papers in 2 or 3 straight days or 2 papers in a single day or 12 days gap btwn 2 papers (no names mentioned of those I mean, u know who u r). Totally unfair!! And totally PHAIL!!
And for this trimester, it's a total mess-up. Excluding BM, I have evening classes on Mon & Wed and 2 days where I have to spend the whole day at school. And for Saturday itself, we have to attend 6 hours of Intro to Japanese lectures, according to the timetable given, instead of 4 as the subject is a 3 credit hrs subject. I dun understand why this happens. Mr Krishnan has to come to help Mr Naha Rajan & us EL students to solve the problem. We attended the 1st lecture from 8-10am, but unsure whether to follow our timetable or not. After negotiating with other students, Mr Rajan asked us to come at 2.30pm and cancel the 5-7pm class. But he started the class late cos need to wait for a new grp of students to arrive. He carried on with the lecture and before he ends the class with Q & A session abt Japan. He asked EL students to come from 8-10am n 12-2pm for his lectures next week onwards. Another PHAILure of Utar!!
One last thing is that Utar hired a full-time working adult as our part-time tutor for the same subject. Wth!! Just b'cos of shortage of lecturer for Japanese, they have to ask experienced Mr Chirstopher Ng to handle our tutoiral classes. Now, he can't teach us anymore cos he has a permanent job. PHAIL!!! And that leave us unsure abt our tutorial classes on Mon & Wed. But Mr Rajan suggests that we come on Sat for our tutoirals. This MIGHT happens but depends on situations. If that does happen, it means that we have only two days of classes whereas those taking Chinese have 3. I've no ideas wats gonna happen next but Utar is epic PHAIL man!!
I know I shouldn't say all these things out as this may defame Utar's reputation but I have my own rights to voice out my opinions & feelings. It's just not fair to me as a student here.

My own fault

Oh no! I have missed my first class of this semester! And it's totally all my own fault!
Until yesterday, I have not missed or skipped any lectures or tutorials of any subjects. Amazing, huh? But, I lost my 100% attendance today for not turning up for Mr Paul's tutorial class. Reason.. I overslept.. Haiz, most probably I slept late, around 3.30am today. I've set my alarm as usual, but I turned it off and continued to sleep. When I woke up, it's already 1.30pm. OMG! I'm extremely late.. but I fugured out that there's no point for me to go for class at that time.. So, I decided to skip the class and planned to do sumthing else(either working on my essay or doing revison for Moral midterm), but I'm too lazy to get up. As a result, back to dreamland again..
When I've enough rest, I decided to go for P.Moral lecture to get some tips from my lecturer Mr Muthu regardinfg the midterm exam this Sat. But when I checked my phone, there's an SMS from Betty. Dang! I even forgot abt my psycholinguistcs discussion at 2pm. ARGH! What's wrong with me? Nvr mind, I'll explain to her when I see her.
When I went to class, I looked tired cos I skipped breakfast and lunch. Then, I saw Betty and apologised to her for not coming for the discussion. Thought she's gonna scold me but she didn't. Turned out that Monica didn't come as well. Betty suggested to have the discussion tmr after the Academic Writing lecture.
No big deal if I skipped classes.. but seriously, I need to rectifiy my mistakes and organise my time well. BY God's grace, hopefully I'll be able to get rid of my bad habits. Time for reflection.

I've learnt a lesson

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVE WASTED MY CHANCE! Now Mr Paul is gonna be mad at me for not being able to show him the 1st draft of the essay for my assignment.

Today, after having lunch, I went to university at around 1.45pm coz members of my P.Moral group assignment wanted to meet me for a short discussion at 2.00pm. After they left for home, I proceeded to Block A to go for the "Festival of the Mind" exhibition. At the same time, my intention of going to the Heritage Building was to show Mr Paul, my lecturer for Academic Writing, the first draft of the compare-contrast essay writing assignment I've prepared. He said I have to show by this week coz next week he will onli entertain the 2nd draft. So, while on the way to his office on the 2nd floor, I bumped into some of my coursemates near the Heritage Hall. Some of them were queuing up to get the tickets of the talks they wanna attend. I stopped for a while to chat with them, and I got carried away from my purpose there. Noticing the time on my watch, it showed 2.10pm. My tutorial was at 2.30pm & it was in Block D. So I rushed to the venue ASAP w/out realising i've totally forgot abt the draft.

Dang! What could I b so forgetful? Winna, a coursemate of mine, told me dat Mr Paul has no classes today & he would leave anytime if there's nothing else he can do there. Hurriedly after the Morphology tutorial class, I quickened my steps to go to Block A again to meet him. But when I got there, I discovered that I was too late. His office door was locked & one of the staff there told me that he has gone back to Ipoh.

Aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhh! I've missed the golden opportunity! Now I'm not quite sure what to do next... and i've no idea what's his reaction gonna be. Will Mr Paul accept my draft & apology if I were to show him next week? I can't answer this. Perhaps I have to bear the cosequences of my actions myself. I shouldn't be distracted so easily. Time to reflect on my mistakes. Maybe next time I should do whatever is priority first & seize every opportunity available.
